The University of Birmingham and the University of Manchester looked at how many vacancies were filled and found the biggest employer of all was the NHS.
The study, published in the journal Medical Care, found only 10% of the vacancies advertised on the recruitment sites were full-time.
In contrast, 80% of those advertised in the NHS were full time.
